Multi-factor authentication (MFA) requires at least two independent proofs from different categories at login: knowledge (password), possession (code app, hardware key), or biometrics (fingerprint, face). This means a stolen password alone isn't enough to access the account. The well-known two-factor authentication (2FA) 2FA secures logins with a second proof on top of your password — such as a code from an app. Even a stolen password isn't enough for attackers then.
