Dark web monitoring
Dark web monitoring is a service, included in many password managers and security suites, that watches the underground forums and marketplaces where stolen data is sold. It compares your emails and other details against known breach databases and alerts you if they appear, so you can change the affected password before anyone uses it. It cannot erase your data from the dark web —that is impossible— but it can give a valuable early warning. It works best alongside unique passwords and two-factor authentication, which limit the damage of any leak. It is a useful extra, not a substitute for good password hygiene. Which managers include it is covered in the best password managers comparison.
